My daughter loves her puzzles. She's at that toddler age where she likes figuring things out, comparing shapes and colors, and just getting used to using some more advanced skills before starting school in a few days. Its a wonderful thing to observe! I'm pretty lucky to be around to capture the moments like these and to have the skill to create wall-worthy images of these little memories too!
A bit about kids and their puzzles...
Puzzles challenge young minds to recognize patterns, shapes, and spatial relationships. As a toddler attempts to fit a piece into its rightful place, they're not just playing—they're problem-solving. This process enhances their memory, fine motor skills, and even patience. Every successful match is a small victory, boosting their self-esteem and teaching them the value of perseverance. Moreover, puzzles offer a unique opportunity for parents and caregivers to engage with children, fostering social skills and reinforcing bonds. As we watch these young minds at work, it's a beautiful reminder that learning can be both fun and profound, and that the simplest tools can have the most profound impact on a child's development.
By watching and/or helping your child complete puzzles, you're literally seeing the foundations of their world developing. You're seeing their growing mastery of the world forming in real time. Second by second, your child is transforming to that inevitable next step when they're not so much a toddler any more, but a big kid. And spoiler alert - they don't stop that growth for anything!
That's why it's so important for me and my family to make record of these little experiences and milestones, so we can look back and remember these things that we can't go back and relive. It gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
