A little before Christmas, I had the great pleasure of helping the Kunz family get some holiday photos for their Christmas card. Mom had the best idea: she wanted to some photos of her and her family making Christmas cookies to put on their card along side a QR code to scan for a great cookie recipe. She was going to just setup her iPhone and take them herself, but luckily she reached out for an assist from me!
If you've ever tried it, getting photos of your family doing an activity with yourself included can be a nightmare! You have to setup the camera, make sure its taking photos on a timer (so figuring that out can be a hassle), manage all the kids and other adults getting ready, making sure you are presentable too, prep the kitchen, and more. ALL of that is before you even start making the cookies themselves and trying to get everyone to look natural and have fun. Even with two adults sharing the tasks, that is VERY overwhelming.
In any case, that was an alternate reality that mom didn't have to go through. I came over, setup my light, and they just went to town. Mom took charge, of course. Dad assisted and looked quite dapper with his rolling pin. The youngest did a great job supervising and providing moral support and the oldest, of course, was the star of the show and provided more charm than anyone could handle.
Best of all, the photos turned out great and we received a fun Christmas card a few weeks later. Thanks so much, Kunz family, you guys were Christmas rockstars!
